Large Order of Electric Trucks by Volvo Trucks
Electric trucks are increasingly being used in real-world operations. Recently, Volvo Trucks and the global logistics company DSV announced a major deal. They have signed an agreement for the delivery of 300 heavy electric trucks. For Volvo Trucks, this represents one of their largest commercial orders of electric trucks. DSV, in turn, will strengthen its position as one of the largest operators of corporate electric truck fleets in Europe.
However, DSV also works with many small transportation companies, especially local ones. Slovakia is no exception. Smaller transportation companies often need to react flexibly to the needs of their corporate clients and expand their fleets. They can do this easily thanks to services like truck financing and leasing offered by ESKA Finance.
Thousands of trucks daily
DSV transports goods daily with more than 20,000 trucks across Slovakia and the rest of the world. In the coming years, the Danish logistics company aims to further increase the share of electric vehicles in its fleet, planning to have 2,000 electric trucks in operation by 2030.
The current deal with Volvo Trucks includes, in addition to the 300 fully electric trucks, 500 Volvo trucks powered by diesel and gas engines. The trucks will be delivered between 2024 and 2026. “This order is a testament to the trust in our company and demonstrates that zero-emission transportation is a viable option today,” said Volvo Trucks President Roger Alm after the contract signing.
The deliveries will also include the latest Volvo FH Aero Electric model, which features new aerodynamics and better fuel efficiency. Financing for the Volvo FH Aero can also be obtained through truck leasing options offered by ESKA Finance.
