About You and ESKA Finance: 

We are looking for a strategic and commercial finance manager with experience in the start-up and scale-up world. 

You will play a key role in setting up the reporting and accounting. You will assist the founders in fundraising for growth, investor relations, and business planning.

You will be responsible for creating a financial operating model that is robust, scalable, and designed to support growth. You will manage financial planning, forecasting, reporting, accounting and budgets in France and other countries where we operate.

You:

Startup experience: you worked as a financial manager in a startup already or you are ready to tackle such a challenge.

Into Details: you have professional accounting experience or education. You are comfortable with diving into details. 

Fundraiser: you have experience with fundraising or with capital debt markets. You will work along with the founders in fundraising.

Organizer: operational excellence should be smart - you have to install just the right amount of process, reporting, and structure. Not too much - we should smoothly run and grow the engine as a compact team. 

Jack of all trades: you will be your own chief. Only you in the department for the next 12 months. And you are able to perform other duties as needed. You should be very comfortable with legal documents, as well as finance.

Great in networking: You have a long list of potential financing sources that are willing to take their call.

Bilingual: French - C2. Good communication skills in English. 

 

Your challenge:

Financial planning and analysis: Your role is to oversee all the main components of the finance function, such as budgeting, financial planning, analysis, expense management, tax compliance, accounting and financial reporting, and many more.

 

Financial reporting and analysis

Accurate and transparent financial reporting and analysis is the foundation and it provides investors and creditors with information about our financial integrity and creditworthiness. 

 

Accounting and reporting: We outsource our accounting. And it is necessary to control and to communicate with the accounting partners. As we do deals internationally, you will have to look into EU tax compliance codes to avoid legal friction.

 

Budgeting and forecasting: You must be able to anticipate and plan for future financial needs. It is also necessary to be ready to adjust to unanticipated occurrences.

 

Cash flow management and Treasury management: As a startup we have limited cash reserves and fluctuations in revenue. You will spend a good amount of time working on cash flow forecasting and management and always ensure that we have enough availability of cash to meet financial obligations and invest in growth opportunities.

 

Fundraising: You need to have sound knowledge about the availability of different kinds of funding and how to structure a deal for this funding.

 

Managing investor relations and expectations: It is important to set up effective reporting for our existing investors to keep them in the loop about how things are going. Great communication skills are necessary to show financial performance and projections in a clear, accurate way that meets investors’ expectations.

 

Tax planning and navigating regulatory compliance: You will need to ensure that the company complies with all relevant laws and regulations. We must comply with a range of financial regulations and laws, and as a Finance Manager, you will be responsible for navigating whether we are in compliance or not. This includes filling required financial statements, managing tax compliance, and ensuring that the company meets financial and securities laws and regulations, tax laws, and employment laws. 

 

Risk management: You will have to go into the details of our contracts to understand our risks and how to mitigate them. 

 

Your profile:

French - C2 and solid English language skills.

A positive attitude: You prefer to look for solutions rather than clinging to problems.
