New Generation of DAF Trucks
At the Hannover Motor Show, DAF Trucks introduced a series of innovations for its new generation of XD, XF, XG, and XG+ trucks. The new vehicles boast improved aerodynamics, reworked powertrains, and a range of advanced driver-assistance systems. With these upgrades, DAF promises a fuel saving of 10% to 13% compared to the previous generation.
The powertrain, featuring PACCAR-11 and PACCAR-13 engines, comes with updated valve timing, a dual-drive coolant pump, and a twin-cylinder air compressor with a clutch. The turbo and EGR systems have also been revamped. Finally, a long-standing issue with DAF's injectors has been addressed, introducing new injectors to the system.
Quick Solutions for Issues
Not only injector failures but any other breakdowns can cause significant losses for transport companies. With low margins, vehicles need to be almost constantly operational. If transport companies are looking to expand their fleet, ESKA Finance can offer small and medium-sized businesses effective financing solutions for truck purchases.
Rear Axle Improvements
The updates continue with the SR1344 rear axle. Thanks to its new pinion design, it promises greater strength and durability and supports the maximum output of the PACCAR MX-13 engine, which delivers 390 kW (530 hp). According to DAF, gearbox strategy adjustments and engine optimizations result in 7% lower RPMs at constant speeds (950 instead of 1,030), depending on the configuration. These drivetrain changes have also reduced cabin noise. Engineers claim the gearbox strategy has improved driving performance with smoother shifting.
For 4x2 and 6x2 truck versions, the DAF Digital Vision camera system (which replaces conventional mirrors), predictive cruise control, and low-resistance tires are now standard. The aerodynamic package is also standard, along with a 10-year subscription to PACCAR Connect. The trucks also come with a full suite of advanced driver-assistance systems.
